Challenges
Our customer required an 8.8 MW power plant solution for an oil production facility located in a remote area of the Peruvian Amazon jungle. The customer had access to crude oil. However, the extraction was done directly from the oil well with minimal treatment: only the separation of gas, water, salts and sediments.
The client’s remote location posed numerous challenges. First, the power solution would have to be able to withstand a hostile environment without reliability. Because the location was not suitable for a extensive construction work, the solution would require the use of as many prefabricated components as possible. This would not only reduce the transportation of tools, materials and personnel to the site, but would also help meet the tight project schedule.
Since the solution would support the oilfield production, the client demanded the best engineering and the highest quality equipment. We were selected due to our track record in delivering customized turnkey solutions for remote oil and gas operations.

Solution
From the first consultation with the client, we knew that a mobile power plant would be an ideal solution. Through our subsidiary in Peru, Ferrenergy S.A.C., we proposed a modularized, 100% portable power plant with all the necessary equipment for fully autonomous and automated operation.
Our solution features heavy-duty generator sets and auxiliary equipment, all suitable for continuous operation with HFO and crude oil. In our fully container-built power plant, all mechanical, electrical and control equipment is installed in 20′ and 40′ seaworthy containers. All pipelines were also constructed in a modular fashion to allow a quick assembly in the field. Inside the pipeline modules, all cable trays connect the equipment electrically.
Our solution features heavy-duty generator sets and auxiliary equipment, all suitable for continuous operation with HFO and crude oil.
Results
For the development of this solution, we benefitted from our engineering expertise and the creativity of our technical team to create a modular, portable and customized 8.81 MW power plant by using untreated crude oil.
